Appendix 2F; Allowing the Spirit to Influence

Super-EGO.png

The ego is the part of the personality that other people see. It's the mediator between the id and superego and is responsible for expressed behavior. The ego is the visible outcome of man’s attempt at negotiation between the id and the superego. When this process is going on inside a Christian, a fourth element is present, the power of God to lead your decision-making to reflect Christlike behavior (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).

As a Christian with the power of the Holy Spirit, you can tame your ego, if you choose. However, the decision to act consistently with the Spirit’s promptings is left up to you (Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Galatians 6:7-8). See Appendix 2J for more on how to show love - naturally, according to your unique personality bent.
