Make intentional change

When preparedness* meets opportunity, hope is realized! 

*This implies an attitude of willingness to conform to the requirements. ​

Consider the association between . . . ​

  • The habit of healthy eating, exercise and sleep as it relates to physical health goals.​

  • The habit of reading for both information and interest as it relates to career goals and personal development.​

  • The habit of being a reliable worker and communicating with coworkers, friends and relatives in a kind and courteous manner as it relates to relationship goals.​

  • The habit of forming value-based friendships as it relates to psychosocial goals.​

  • The habit of prayer, Bible reading, church attendance and obedience to Christ not only as it relates to spiritual goals, but also as it acts to encourage and direct you toward reaching goals in every area of your life! (Think-what's possible with God; D(A+B) = C  )?​

Evaluate where you are now against where you want to be. To bridge the gap between these, set goals, do the next right thing you know is the right thing to do in God’s eyes. Revisit your SMART goals and be sure you’ve created goals that reflect change in each area of this many sides of life. ​

Do your values shinE   through in all you do; if not, evaluate what is blocking you from goal achievement?

1.   What are some environmental and / or emotional triggers that tempt you to fall back into old habits? ​

  • brought on by interpersonal frustration:​

2.  Think about the process of forming new social relationships and habits and the role that both positive and          negative peer pressure play on that decision.  

  • What will you do to find a social community that will support your recovery? ​

  • How will you overcome the uncomfortable feeling of breaking into a new social group? ​

3.   How can you become more aware of Christian standards so you can practice more INTENTIONAL rather            than impulsive DECISION-MAKING?​ (Becoming aware is the first step to changing habits and avoiding                temptations! Read about the role of conscience in decision-making in the Art of Self-Mastery).​

4.  What decisions can you make in your social life that will limit the chance of relapse and increase the                   chance of having the new normal habits be incorporated into your daily habits of living?

*Relapses happen as part of the learning process. When they occur, you leave the cycle of change, but you can reenter the process where you left off​
